NEC acquired NetCracker, however NetCracker will consolidate NEC’s software and services business to compete more directly with larger IT and network equipment vendors. As noted on Connected Planet, NEC is essentially moving even more software platforms and applications under the NetCracker unit, as well as discussing possible additional acquisitions.
“NEC acquired NetCracker back in 2008, with NetCracker operating as an independent subsidiary that would continue to focus its network and service management expertise and winning large-scale telco transformation deals. At the time, synergies between the NEC and NetCracker were described largely on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) front, with an expected focus on three key areas: network and IT optimization, service acceleration and content monetization.”
