BERLIN - At the CoreOS Fest here, one of the big pieces of news is a new networking effort called Canal. Canal is an open-source effort that combines Project Calico, which has been led by Metaswitch and flannel, with a new CoreOS-led container networking project that includes both addressing and security policy elements.

In a lunch-hour press conference at CoreOS Fest, Andy Randall, CEO of Tigera, detailed what the new company is all about and how it helps to solve some of the key challenges of container networking.
